"Lunchtime at the Falls" Photo of the Day: December 23, 2015

This cute little mammal was snacking on some seeds in probably the most photogenic place that it could have possibly been - in Yellowstone National Park, at the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River. I got a couple of shots before it became camera shy and turned its back to me and continued munching!

"Autumn Vines" Photo of the Day: October 26, 2015

"Autumn Vines." The way that nature interacts with architecture throughout the seasons fascinates me. It is frequently stunningly beautiful, as seen here on the University of Minnesota campus.

"Above the Clouds" Photo of the Day: October 7, 2015

"Above the Clouds." After a lengthy drive and an exhausting hike one can come across this view in Glacier National Park in Montana. The high altitude results in one tiring quicker than usual, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time when hiking so far up!

Photo of the Day: August 9, 2015 "The Blue Flower"

I honestly had some post-processing fun with this photo! I really wanted the colors to "pop" within the image, so I played around in the final stages of production to ensure strong color throughout, especially with the flower itself.

Photo of the Day: August 4, 2015 "Canyon in Yellowstone"

The Yellowstone River in Yellowstone National Park carves out some beautiful canyons and gorges, including this stunning one. While Yellowstone is famous for its geysers, hot springs, and mudpots don't forget to experience the incredible rolling landscapes that were shaped from the volcanic activity over the years. If you ever get the opportunity to visit this incredible park, do so. You will not be disappointed!

Photo of the Day: August 3, 2015 "Heights"

Reaching towards the sky...at varying heights! This photograph was shot in Chicago within Millennium Park. Finding unique perspectives to shoot common subjects at can be a challenge in photography, however it is always rewarding to capture something unique!

Photo of the Day: July 2, 2015

This was shot on the beach of Cape Tribulation in the Daintree Rainforest. This young mangrove grows alone in the mud, waiting for the oncoming tide to surround it with the aquatic life that will seek refuge amongst its roots. The thick mangrove forest (which was to my back while taking this photograph) acts as a buffer from the sediments that flow from the tropical rainforest, protecting the bay and its water. ‪#‎capetribulation‬ ‪#‎australia‬‪#‎daintree‬ ‪#‎photooftheday‬

Conservatory Plant Life

Hey everyone, this is just a quick post on some photos that I got on a recent trip to a local conservatory. Since Spring is taking its sweet time to arrive here in Minnesota, it was nice to spend some quality time shooting indoors in a tropical environment.

I also want to say that I have been busily working on creating my own online portfolio website (I am using smugmug). It is quite a process to get it up to my standards but it is beginning to take shape... Regardless, I hope to have it up and running this weekend and will obviously post a link to it here.

Finally, I did something that I should have done a long time ago and that is change the url of this site. Back when I first started my photography blog back in 2008 it was called "WP Nature Photography" and the url coincided with that and was "wp-nature-photography.blogspot.com". As my experience grew and my love of photography spread to much more than just nature, I changed the name to a much more appropriate "Wyatt Prosch Photography". However because of some obvious negative results (lost comments, lost bookmarks, etc.) I put off changing the url to the proper title.

I finally did the other day, so I apologize for some of the setbacks that you may notice as a result. In due time the blog will be back up to full speed! As always, thank you for looking!

Black and White HDR Night Photography...at the Museum!

Hi everyone! On our way back through Kansas City after visiting the Ozarks this past week, we spent some time with my family exploring some of the cool stuff that "KC" has to offer. One such thing was the incredible Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. This free art museum is absolutely massive and I had the privilege of visiting it twice: once, during the morning and early afternoon exploring the exhibits, and later on returning once the sun had set to photograph the "Modern Art" wing of the museum after dark. This stunning building has an extraordinary facade not unlike portions of the University of Minnesota's own Rapson Hall (where I basically live during the school year).

These images are a bit different than what I normally shoot as they are 1. Black and White, and 2. High Dynamic Range. Both of these factors play into interesting images that I feel helps bring out the character that the stunning building had over the surrounding landscape. HDR Photography entails taking several images of the same composition, each at different exposures. Merging these images together later on in the post-processing stage allows for most everything in a photo to be properly exposed, rather than just the focal point of an image. I will do a post just on HDR Photography later on. Thanks for looking!

Landscapes Shaped by Water - Yellowstone

These photographs were taken this past August in Yellowstone National Park. Erosion caused from water can create absolutely stunning landscapes, as seen beautifully here in America's first National Park. I personally love photographing anything that involves water; it instantly makes any scene more intriguing to me. Yellowstone is dotted with lakes, rivers, and streams so I got my fair share of time photographing good 'ol H20!

Below is an image of me taken at Grand Teton National Park, the next door neighbor to Yellowstone.

A Colorful, Flowering World

We are blessed with the beauty of flowers and all that they do for wildlife, the environment, and the enjoyment that they bring us people. From smell to visual appeal they truly make our world a more beautiful and interesting place. These photographs are of some various species of flowering plants, all taken in different areas of California. Which one is your favorite?

P.S. I cannot wait for it to be warm outside soon! The frigid temperatures of a Minnesota winter are starting to take its toll...

A December afternoon in Minnesota?

This afternoon I took a short hike through some woods on my parent's property while visiting. Though it has been its typical cold self, this Minnesota winter has had a tough time keeping snow on the ground (however, according to the usually incorrect weatherman, this is about to change). Although I did take over 250 photos on my brief walk, I managed to quickly pick a couple that I like.

It's Fall...again...

Not to ruin anyone's day, but I thought that I'd point out that Fall is here and Winter is right around the corner. For some of you who live in warmer areas of the world, that might not mean much to you but for someone who lives in an area like Minnesota (myself included) it means a great deal.

I am personally not looking forward to all of the snow and cold, but as always it offers some nice photo opportunities. Here are some photos that were captured up on the shore of Lake Superior, right before the leaves started to change.

Tropical Flowers

I don't like rainy weather, and today it has been raining all day (bummer). My main computer - which stores my images - seems to be infected with some sort of serious virus (super bummer). The forcast shows that here in Minnesota we might be getting some more snow within the next couple of days (seriously? I thought that it was Spring). And to top off my list of reasons to be grumpy, the Twins lost again last night (where is Joe Mauer when you need him?). However I have still been enjoying a good day and, discovering that this blog has been seriously neglected for awhile, decided to post!

Anyway, here are some photos of some species of tropical flowers (these flowers in particular can be found in the rainforest of Southeast Asia). Which one is your favorite?

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I know that I'm a day late with this message but oh well. I hope that you all had a great day!

Some plants in Grand Canyon National Park

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all surviving the winter just fine! I know that up here in "Minnesnowta" the winter weather can be a huge issue for traveling and what not. Personally, I am 100% ready for Spring.
Anyway here are some older photos that I took a while back at the Grand Canyon National Park. Enjoy!
