Photo of the Day: August 4, 2015 "Canyon in Yellowstone"

The Yellowstone River in Yellowstone National Park carves out some beautiful canyons and gorges, including this stunning one. While Yellowstone is famous for its geysers, hot springs, and mudpots don't forget to experience the incredible rolling landscapes that were shaped from the volcanic activity over the years. If you ever get the opportunity to visit this incredible park, do so. You will not be disappointed!

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Whenever you see something that truly takes your breathe away, you often will never forget it. I have had the privilege of visiting Yellowstone National Park twice in my life and each time have spent a good deal of time along the Yellowstone River. After spilling over the 308-foot Lower Falls the water runs through the gorgeous Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

The canyon snakes through the landscape beautifully with incredible colors and a non-stop array of beautiful views. The canyon is over 1,000 feet deep.

The incredibly photogenic Lower Falls. This world-famous waterfall is one of the most heavily toured areas of Yellowstone, and is frequently cited as one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

The Painted Canyon

Painted Canyon National Park is located in Billings, North Dakota, near the town of Medora. It is part of the Badlands of North Dakota. On a recent trip driving out to the west coast, I stopped by and took some photos.
