Black and White or Color? You be the judge! "Cape Tribulation Shoreline" Photo of the Day: January 4, 2016

I need some help! This is a photography that was taken this past summer and I would like some feedback on which version of it you like better - the color or black and white. I personally like both yet I believe that they convey different emotions. What are your thoughts? Comment and let me know! -Wyatt

I shot this while hiking along the beach near Cape Tribulation in the tropics of Australia. With the rainforest to my back and the Pacific ocean ahead, which holds the phenomenal Great Barrier Reef, the number of ecosystems in this one area of the globe is mind boggling.

"Nighttime Coaster Ride" Photo of the Day: August 29, 2015

This famous roller coaster is located on the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California. In order to get this shot I had to wade out into the surf to get the angle that I wanted and would wait for the coaster to come by. Being battered by the waves was not very pleasant!

Photo of the Day: June 15, 2015

Gold Coast, Australia. This photo was taken from the top of Q1, the tallest building in Australia. The way that the architecture of the city interacts with the ocean and rivers was gorgeous!

California Daydreaming

Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA
It is getting cold here in Minnesota...so naturally I am making a post NOT about the pending winter months, rather me fantasizing about my trips to California. I enjoy visiting California very much and shamelessly look like a tourist while I am there; carrying around all of my camera equipment (of course I look like a tourist EVERYWHERE I go because of this). With this said, I look forward to the upcoming winter photography opportunities for me...which are right around the corner!

Santa Monica Beach at Sunset

If you ever get the chance to be in Santa Monica, California, make sure to stick around into the evening. Oceans provide stunning sunsets and its almost like someone flips off a light switch when the sun finally shrinks over the horizon...one moment the sun is casting its rays at the beach, the next moment its gone over the horizon, not to return until the next morning. Here are some photos that I got while visiting some relatives a while back.
Above: Gulls follow a boat in the sunset.
Below: Clam holes in the moist sand.
One last hunt for clams before the sun goes down.
A Gull watches the sun set.
