"Riverside" Photo of the Day: February 10, 2016
"Riverside." Thanks to my buddy Timmy for allowing me to randomly snap photos of him during a recent hike along the icy shores of the Mississippi River. My addiction to black and white continues to grow stronger...

"Alyssa" Photo of the Day: December 30, 2015
Moments of love and beauty make life worth living. Unfortunately, moments pass. However, if you are lucky you may find someone who breaks this rule. With them, these wonderful moments always seem to exist.

"The Aquarium" Photo of the Day: August 17, 2015
While visiting an aquarium recently I shot this photo. From a technical standpoint it was a challenge to shoot because the inside of the aquarium needed a long exposure to light it up properly, however the children and fish were all moving so fast that there were frequently blurred subjects!

"Rainy Spirits" Photo of the Day: August 16, 2015
I hope everyone is having a good weekend! Here is a photo that I took a couple of weeks ago right after a fairly intense rainstorm here in Minneapolis. I honestly would love to go back and reshoot this sometime as I feel like I did not do enough to draw attention to the cloud-shrouded skyline in the distance.

Photo of the Day: July 30, 2015 "The Diver's Descent"
Hi everyone! Here is a photograph that I took while scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef. When one exhales while scuba diving (unless they are using a rebreather) a cloud of bubbles rises to the surface. While we were making our initial descent to the reef, I captured this photo of my guide as one of her swarms of bubbles surrounded me. I call this image "The Diver's Descent".

Photo of the Day: July 28, 2015 "Frigid Illumination"
Here is an excerpt from my photography portfolio website on my image called Frigid Illumination. "In the frigid temperatures of a February night in Minneapolis, I photographed this student sitting among a collection of murals alongside a building on the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus. My hands have yet to forgive me for exposing them to the cold for so long while shooting, but some of the results were excellent." Visit my site at: http://www.wyattproschphotography.com/

Photo of the Day: July 22, 2015 "The Barbershop"
This is a photo that I took while wandering about Sydney, Australia late at night during my recent trip. I was without a tripod and it was incredibly dark so I had to push my ISO number higher to get an appropriate exposure without any blur, resulting in quite a bit of noise (or grain). I am not one to extensively edit my photographs, as I only like to use post-processing as a way to get my photos to appear as they did to my naked eye while shooting. However, I played around with this photo a bit more than I normally would have. Rather than fighting the noise I decided to strengthen it, giving the image a unique old-fashioned appearance. What do you think of the final product?

Photo of the Day: July 16, 2015 "Weisman Art Museum Facade"
Upon returning to Minneapolis this afternoon I took a stroll around the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus and captured this photograph at the Weisman Art Museum on the shore of the Mississippi River. Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, the building's swirling metal facade reflected all sorts of interesting colors and shadows. A big thank you to Alyssa for posing for me!

Photo of the Day: July 14, 2015 "Half and Half"
While shooting along the coast of New South Wales I did not immediately realize that I had taken a photograph that captured both above and below the surface of the water of a tide pool. It was honestly all luck as the water continued to splash into the pool via waves from the Pacific Ocean!

"The Parade" - Apparently even miniature horses can be a real handful, as was the case during this 4th of July parade in Delano, Minnesota last year where it took a small group of people to coax the little guy along the route.

"Croc Jump" - This was shot during a show at the world famous Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Queensland. Made popular by Steve Irwin and his show "The Crocodile Hunter" the zoo remains as one of the biggest tourist attractions in Australia.

"Boater's Oasis." In one of the world's most beautiful areas, in Grand Teton National Park (right on the border of Yellowstone), there are countless scenic viewpoints that will make your jaw drop. I was lucky enough to spend my birthday on a trip to Yellowstone for the second time in my life this past year, and I shot this lake on a day trip into the Tetons.

"Feeding a Giant." I personally have always loved opportunities to interact with wildlife, especially unique ones...and feeding giraffes is no exception. This was shot at a zoo in Iowa as kids lined up to feed this gorgeous creature lettuce!

Photo of the Day: June 14, 2015
This was shot in an incredibly remote portion of the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas this past March. This specific waterfall is call "Glory Hole Waterfall" and is unique in that the stream that feeds it eroded an opening in the roof of a cave where the water now pours through.

Returning from the Ozarks was a Difficult Thing to do...
As I attempt to get back into the swing of normal everyday life again it is all too easy to get caught up in reflecting on the wonderful trip that I just had over my Spring Break. Rather than running off to some tropical beach, I spent the week exploring and photographing the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. I cannot wait to share the many stories and photographs that I gathered while I was there.
The image above is of the Glory Hole, a remote waterfall located off of the beaten path in the forest. It surprisingly is not advertised and is not visible on the National Forest's maps and directions, despite being one of the most beautiful spots there (in my opinion). A mountain stream flowing over the rocky hillside eroded a circular "portal" into a cave beneath it, creating a stunning waterfall through the ceiling.
Shout out to Alyssa for letting me use her as my human scale figure in this image as she was testing the temperature of the chilly mountain water with her hand. I will be doing a more in depth post or two on this waterfall and its surroundings when I have more time (hopefully later this week), including how to find it if you are to ever visit the Ozarks and want to visit a remote-yet-beautiful landmark.
