Black and White or Color? You be the judge! "Cape Tribulation Shoreline" Photo of the Day: January 4, 2016
I need some help! This is a photography that was taken this past summer and I would like some feedback on which version of it you like better - the color or black and white. I personally like both yet I believe that they convey different emotions. What are your thoughts? Comment and let me know! -Wyatt
I shot this while hiking along the beach near Cape Tribulation in the tropics of Australia. With the rainforest to my back and the Pacific ocean ahead, which holds the phenomenal Great Barrier Reef, the number of ecosystems in this one area of the globe is mind boggling.

"Cairns Skyline" Photo of the Day: October 14, 2015
This is the "skyline view" in Cairns, Queensland located in far northeastern Australia. The city itself is sizable with just over 150,000 residents and has some impressive architectural features throughout, however the most dramatic views are of the surrounding rainforest and harbor. Sailboats filled the marinas as storm clouds rolled in over the mountains. It is from this city that most tourists board ships that take them out to the Great Barrier Reef if they intend on experiencing the dramatic underwater spectacle.

Photo of the Day: August 10, 2015 "Kayaking at Cape Tribulation"
This photo was taken while kayaking around Cape Tribulation in far north Queensland, Australia. The cinematic clouds and beautiful landscapes created for a magical visual experience. After kayaking for several hours of exploring the rugged tropical coastline and spotting reef sharks beneath out kayaks we all grabbed each other's boats to create a single large raft. We then faced the mountains and drank mimosas and ate chocolate cake as we watched the sun set over the lush tropical rainforest that is the Daintree. I will never forget that incredible evening!

Photo of the Day: July 24, 2015 "The Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains"
This was shot within the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales, Australia. I shot this while peering through the rainforest at the "Three Sisters" rock formation during a hike. This beautiful park has some of Australia's most stunning scenery and was a blast to explore!

Photo of the Day: July 13, 2015 "Waterfall in the Blue Mountains"
Here is a photo that I took near the beginning of my recent trip to Australia, in the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales. I shot this from an observation point that gave a terrific view of this massive waterfall. Beautiful, right?

Photo of the Day: July 2, 2015
This was shot on the beach of Cape Tribulation in the Daintree Rainforest. This young mangrove grows alone in the mud, waiting for the oncoming tide to surround it with the aquatic life that will seek refuge amongst its roots. The thick mangrove forest (which was to my back while taking this photograph) acts as a buffer from the sediments that flow from the tropical rainforest, protecting the bay and its water. #capetribulation #australia#daintree #photooftheday

Photo of the Day: July 1, 2015
Here is another photo from this past weekend in northeastern Australia. While looking for Saltwater Crocodiles on the Daintree River my guide had to keep yelling at me to stop leaning so far over the sides of the boat to take photos. "Listen here mate, if you fall in I am not trying to save you from these croc-infested waters 'cause I reckon you'll be ripped to shreds in not too long," he said. Thankfully I didn't fall in! These crocodiles are the largest reptiles in the world and there are many cases of human fatality because of them. They have the most powerful bite of any animal in the world, closing their jaws with an insane 3,700 pounds per square inch of bite force. That is more than a lion, a great white shark, and even more than what the Tyrannosaurus rex was thought to have had. In this specific stretch of river the crocodiles have recently been attacking cows from a nearby cattle farm when they come down for a drink. This resulted in several cow carcasses being visible in the water. But beyond all of that these apex predators are crucial to their habitats and are so strikingly beautiful and perfect that they have not had to change since the time of the dinosaurs. I absolutely loved seeing these giants in the wild!
